Renovation
Located forty floors above South Beach, this three-story penthouse was designed as a weekend retreat for a Palm Beach bachelor. The interior was designed to complement and display the client's extensive collection of South East Asian Art.
Inspired by the James Thompson house in Bangkok, the plan of the apartment was designed as a series of pavilions which provide a fascinating contrast to the contemporary design of The Setai. Using antique elements taken from Thai houses, we designed the extensive interior details - including door paneling and ceilings - to reflect as closely as possible the original antique wooden houses which were the inspiration for the design. The hand-carved teak millwork was fabricated in Asia and is complemented by beautiful carved and inlaid marble elements.
