Gin Lane

Gin Lane

Southampton, NY

Built as a summer retreat is a seven-bay Georgian shingle house, with hyphens and wings, and incorporates a double-height front portico in the grand Ionic order.

This unique property, a five-acre site in Southampton, originally had a small unassuming house owned by Harry K. Thaw, the man who shot Stanford White, on it. The original house, much altered over the years with little or no architectural or historical significance left, was subsequently removed to make way for a new house. The ancillary structures we designed had to match in classical charm. Completed at the beginning of 2011, the site includes the main house, a new pool, pool house, guesthouse, and garage, which all incorporate the same architectural details such as wood columns, and coursed white cedar shingles, full painted wood entablatures, and wood quoins.
